Coventry Fire Station
Project Status – Complete
Client – Steane LTD
The building which is expected to cost circa £5M, is to be designed to meet BREEAM ‘very good’ standards.
This new build project incorporates low energy / green technology, and to meet building regulations standards photovoltaics (PV) have been implemented which will also provide ‘free’ electricity from the sun which will offset against the electricity consumption of the building, and provide a reduction in CO2. Solar thermal panels are to be installed on the roof to supplement the hot water system which will significantly reduce the buildings water heating costs.
The existing fire station has been demolished recently to make way for the new build and the construction phase of the works is due to commence imminently with a construction period of approximately 10 months.
To provide fire-fighting services whilst the construction of the new build fire station takes place a local redundant ambulance station has been converted into a temporary fire station.
